We have all been through a lot so far this year. As we have discussed and debated our pool season, safety has been the board’s primary concern. In order to operate the pool in line with the CDC requirements our members can expect the following for the 2020 season:

We will increase our staffing to maintain a separate entrance and exit to the grounds and to perform regular disinfection of frequently touched surfaces, fixtures, and railings.

We are purchasing the needed PPE and enough supplies for increased disinfecting, sanitation and cleaning.

We will make regular announcements and post signs around the grounds addressing safety requirements.

The breezeway at the office will be the designated entrance for the pool. Members will exit through the gate adjacent to the volleyball court.

Signs will be posted around the pool that define areas that indicate 25 people may be within the area to assist our members with social distancing.

The pool will be divided into sections where 25 people may swim.

The sliding board will be closed.

The diving board will remain open, however it may be taken out of service at times to allow for more swimming in the deep end (not unlike what happens during an alligator game).

We will not be able to have alligator games.

Rafts will not be permitted in the pool.

We will have a regular schedule of adult swims.

The swim team will not be offering swimming lessons this year.

The picnic tables and benches will not be brought down from the pavilion.

The pavilion will be closed and there will be no parties.

The water fountain and showers will not be available.

Events such as Game Day, Membership Appreciation, and Craft Days will not occur.

The playground will be closed and the court area will not be available for volleyball or basketball.

We may need to limit guest access or implement shifts of operation. If we need to do this, we will communicate this to our members in advance.

These changes are subject to change due to the discretion of the board or due to the status of government restrictions
.

The following are the Requirements and Expectations of Our Members:

Members shall not come to the pool if they or anyone in their household has or has had COVID-19 in the last 14 days or if they have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Members shall not come to the pool if they have a cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, had a fever in the last 48 hours or any other symptoms of COVID-19.

Members shall enter the facility wearing a mask (with exception of our youngest members). Masks shall be worn at the breezeway, office, covered area outside of the snack bar, toilets, and other locations where signage indicates masks are required. Masks are optional elsewhere and are recommended to be worn when social distancing is difficult. Masks shall not be worn in the pool.

Members are encouraged to wash their hands frequently.

Members shall practice social distancing. This includes maintaining a six-foot distance while waiting in lines and in placing chairs and laying out towels (household members are not required to observe the six-foot distance).

We are all in this together and we all have a responsibility to keep our community safe. We will issue a responsibility statement to our members that outlines what is noted above so everyone knows what their responsibilities are to make sure we can enjoy a great pool season in the midst of this situation. Members who are not able to follow these guidelines will be asked to leave and could risk losing their membership.

Should we have the support to open, our expectation is that we will open on June 26 (possibly earlier). We hope that our plan helps our members make an informed decision about joining the pool this year. We ask that all interested members send their membership forms with payment so we can make our final determination. Should we have enough interest, we will have clean up days on June 13 and June 14 (times to be announced). If we do not have enough interest we will return the payments.

The measures we are taking will result in increased costs for the pool this season. We are not able to offer a reduced rate for the time we have lost. There will be no late fees this season.
